The bidding process was very competitive, but we were determined. The other company had recently completed some major electrical tenant improvements and seemingly had a leg up. In the midst of bidding on this project, SDG&E released new deadlines for Net Metering with commercial projects. At the end of the day Pro Spot International chose Palomar Solar as their contractor with one caveat, we had to complete the installation and pass inspection before the end of July in order to beat the net metering deadline. We agreed in writing that if we did not meet the deadline the overall project would be discounted by 10%.
We are proud to say we beat the deadline by 30 days. Our team did a superb job making it happen, from the initial drawings to submitting paperwork, scheduling, installation, and inspection.
